Erin: Happy birthday month

That post title is just for my big brother ;) And for everyone else…

HAPPPY WEEKEND!

I hope you had some time to recharge. Mmmm!

I woke up on Saturday to this foreign matter in the juicer:

IMG_4540

!!! Rob had made his own lemonade the night before and left the pulp inside! Such a laze :) I kinda felt like chewing anyways, so I decided to make a salad.

IMG_4541

I think I just mixed lettuce, celery, cucumber, nooch, and some balsamic dressing. Yum…I love chewing!

I spent several hours learning about science-y stuff.

IMG_4543

And of course, I took occasional breaks for love and entertainment!

IMG_4547

IMG_4544 IMG_4545

Rob purchased some candy he knows I hate, thereby protecting me from sugar induced psychosis and leaving more candy for him the trick-or-treaters.

IMG_4550 1

We probs only got 10 knocks on the door, so we were v. generous towards the end! The best costumes were def in this family of five: Mom was Wilma from the Flinstones and kids were other characters. The best was a little Bam Bam. So cute!

After getting my chores done (i.e. cleaning the entire house – sans bedroom – without waking up mr. man) I got ready for a date with a backpack full of work and a booth at the coffee shop. I brought these snow peas, which were technically expired:

IMG_4557

And a Larabar, which I definitely held upside down without noticing

IMG_4559

I came back home around 4:00 to make food for the week.

My dahhhhhhh-link had already started making a mayjuh pot of chili. Did you know he’s really skilled in the kitch?

IMG_4560 IMG_4561

I got to work preparing as much food as I could off this week’s menu:

IMG_4563

Can you read that?

And while I’m asking you questions, have you made this seitan recipe?

IMG_4567

It makes an awfully cute little loaf. :)

I also made snobby joes a la v’Con.

IMG_4568

Other prep consisted of chopping veggies and stuff :D

IMG_4572 IMG_4571

The whole process took 45 minutes total – and part of that time I was coolin’ out!

IMG_4581

Peep my little girl Sittin Sidewayz (meaning…sideways in the basket…get it?).

IMG_4582

Going to work on a Sunday goes against my principles, but I had to be flexible. Still – I feel like I need another half day to get enough time with Rob in. Being around him energizes me for another week. So I might need more caffeine tomorrow.

I have actually considered drinking coffee again. I stopped drinking it four years ago and I could really use it for the next two years! Do you drink coffee?

I have some clean sheets calling me. :) The best!

Happy November 1st. This is such a beautiful month!

  1. Oh I am so jealous of your clean sheets and of Rob’s skills in the kitchen. My man can make toast. Sometimes.

I gave up coffee but am sadly back on it. It keeps me going like nothing else can! Well, nothing else legal :)

    Have a good week, girl!!!

  4. I drink coffee very rarely! I don’t have a very addictive personality and though I love a good coffee, I don’t need it most of the time. :)
That’s awesome that you prepare some of your dinners ahead of time!

Hope you have a great monday :)

  5. Your babies are so freaking cute. I want to steal Annie! I do drink coffee, but not like crazy obsessive coffee lady. I generally have about a cup a day, but sometimes I can go a week without having it and not notice, and others I am like NEED COFFEE. Those days are generally ones where I spend hours upon hours doing research, so yeah, you could use some coffee :)

  6. Bam bam!! That sounds so cute – I love seeing the little kiddos all dressed up! My “sister’s” twins were giraffes and a little piece of me died from cuteness overload when I saw them.

I drink coffee! Not because I need it but because I just like the taste of it.

  7. November is my little bro’s birthday month too!!

I drink a large mug of black coffee each morning, not only because it helps me wake up, but I really just enjoy the flavor of coffee–that’s why I could never give it up! It tastes so delicious….

  11. I’m not a huge coffee drinker, but I do enjoy it on occasion. I actually didn’t even like it until I got preggers with my son. I knew something was up when I couldn’t get enough hazelnut flavoured coffee into me! :)

You kitty is quite the dare devil scaling that wall!!!

  12. I’m a coffee drinker! But only yum stuff. Right now, I am addicted to using Silk Soymilk Pumpkin Spice as a creamer = so delish. I also love soy mistos. I wouldn’t drink coffee so much except the H2B makes a pot every. single. morning.

Sorry to hear you didn’t get as much time in with Rob. You need some positive energy from your man!!

Yes I do drink coffee, but I honestly think it’s more for the taste than anything. Venti Soy Misto from Sbucks is my thangggg.

    Have a wonderful week Erin!

  15. For a while I gave up coffee, but I’ve gone back on the hard stuff and now I’m happy and more awake. If I have a vice, I don’t think coffee is a bad one to have.

It sounds like there werent many trick or treaters anywhere this year. I wouldve thought more kids would have been out since it was a weekend

  18. Not a coffee drinker. Never have been. Ironically enough, I use to be a barista at Starbucks!

I actually love the smell of coffee, and even the taste, but my body does not respond well to it (read: shakes and horrible stomach cramps). So I go without!

  22. You hate kit kats and milk duds?! How could you?!

I stopped drinking coffee in June and haven’t looked back. I drank it more for taste though, caffine does nothing to me. I say – don’t do it.

  23. We used to me huge coffee drinkers though gave it up completely earlier this year… now with the colder months coming it is going to be a real challenge not to drink it again. Though I know if I have a glass here and there it will be ok… just don’t want to be hooked again :)

  24. 1) Don’t think I didn’t see the chola pic from the last post. I pretty much shat myself when I saw that. :D

    2) Coffee. I tried going without for maybe 2 days. Obviously I would have gotten over the caffeine addiction had I stuck it out, but I decided that for me it’s not worth it, since my habit amounts to one cup a day anyway. On top of that, I came up with a compromise I can live with, which means brewing my coffee with some Teeccino, an herbal coffee alternative. Recommendable! Certainly a different taste from straight coffee, but it means less actual coffee grinds are involved in the brew and since Teeccino is alkaline forming, I figure I’m counteracting coffee’s evils somewhat. But again, I’m not a mass consumer in the first place so bottom line = no guilt here. But I recommend giving Teeccino a looksie–you can get a free sample from their site. ;) <–was not paid to say that!

  26. I wish I didn’t drink coffee. I went off caffeine for awhile in college and it did wonders. However, now we have a complimentary in-house coffee bar at work so it’s hard to not make lattes a part of my breakfast routine, especially when the barista does amazing foam art.

Ewww @ the pulp pile in your juicer. I love juicing but cleaning the darn thing is no fun.

  27. i used to drink coffee every day and gave it up last year. now i drink herbal tea. i don’t really miss it, but sometimes i do….

  28. I love coffee and even though I don’t drink it anymore, I still crave it… it’s the joy of a warm cup.. and ah the smell. But Teeccino is a good sub. More info here http://runlori.blogspot.com/2009/10/uncoffee.html or Teeccino.com. This stuff is totally caffeine free and made from ground dates, almonds, cacao, etc.

Anyway, thanks for the post! I’m enjoying your blog as a new reader!

  30. I love your Sunday preps. I wish I was motivated enough to do that.

I have just recently started depending on coffee. I used to just drink it once in a blue moon, but now I have one cup every morning and if I’m really lagging I’ll have another cup mid-day. I try not to drink it on the weekends though.

  37. ERIN! I have a backlog of posts from you. I have been such a bad blog reader lately.
    HAPPY BIRTHDAY MONTH!
K, I seem to be yelling a lot in this comment. I will stop that. Other notes:
-I am really jealous that you have a giant Le Cruset–it is gorgeous. I bought my first piece last year (actually it was a birthday present but of course I picked it out ahead of time!), and regret not buying a bigger one.
-It is so awesome that Rob is into juicing! I don’t think I could get Matt near one. How is the pulp on salads, really? It just seems to stinky to me, but I love the idea of not wasting it!
Hope you have been well, lovie!
