Erin: All for you, ladies

Well honeys, you asked for it, and you KNOW I aim to please! ;)

Here’s two days of eats for ya’ll to salivate over. :) Keep in mind this follows my new plan.

Sunday

I started with a big glass of juice.

IMG_2784

IMG_2785

I love having this in the morning. The idea of eating something rich and hot doesn’t sound good.

Especially when it’s 90 degrees all day!

For lunch, I had a huge veggie salad with half an avocado smashed in for some fatness.

IMG_2786

I used romaine, red cabbage, and raw corn cut off the cob. If you’ve never had corn that way, trust yo girl! So refreshing and milky and sweet!

IMG_2787

I worked out around 4:00, once most of this had digested. I did that stupid bitch ass Jillian’s No More Trouble Zones DVD…

It’s freakin’ insane!

For dinner, I grated some jicama (I saw Gina make “rice” this way) and served it on some romaine with Spike seasoning.

IMG_2790

I love how the jicama leaves a little puddle of fluid on the plate – it’s very thirst quenching!

I also had an easy micro’d sweet potato with my fave condiment, plus steamed frozen veggies.

IMG_2793

Then I worked on this hunk of dark chocolate for an hour or so!

IMG_2795

I would never have touched 70% dark chocolate last year. I thought it was absolutely filthy. My palate is so changed!

I was up kinda late (midnight!) and got hungry around 11:00. It didn’t go away so I dove into this:

IMG_2796

I freakin’ love watermelon! I also had a few prunes to help things along.  Ya herd?

Monday

Okay! So, I had green juice again, but look how much more the juicer produced.

IMG_2800 IMG_2798

30 ounces! Can you believe it?

Here’s why:

IMG_2797

I used celery (instead of romaine) and half a cuke! Those really are straight fluid!

I also went a little craze and decided not to cut the peel off my lemon.

I WAS BURPING LEMON RIND ALL MORNING. So cool!

I mean, who doesn’t want their breath to smell like citrus?

A couple hours later I was hungry, so I ate half a watermelon. That was fun!

IMG_2802 IMG_2804

Then I went to work at a coffee shop with my sister love. I brought a salad:

IMG_2803

Freakin’ exact same as Sunday! I included a fridge shot to prove two things:

  1. I ALSO store cukes and other veg that are cut in half without any wrapping (see this post if you’re confused). Why waste foil yo’s. I give a shit about Mother Earth!
  2. The pop rack is a great place for raw corn when veggie drawers are crammed full!

After working, class, and cardio (45 min stairmill), I went home to make some zucchini cucumber hummus!

IMG_2805

I wanted to copy Gena, but I didn’t have endive so I used cabbage leaves to hold the hummus instead.

IMG_2806

They are so easy to rip! I don’t know how many leaves I pitched (into today’s salad) before I got a few good ones.

So annoying!

IMG_2807

There’s some grated jicama in that mug. :) And I added bell peps to the leaves for a little color pop!

Rob also made me sweet potato tots. So sweet, right? He doused them in oil (!!!) but I took a calming, meditative breath, blotted the shit out of the cubes, and ate them calmly. ;)

IMG_2811

I realized LATER that NUT AND NUT BUTTERS AREN’T SUPPOSED TO COMBINE WITH COOKED VEGETABLES. So, I f’d up. Oops!

I had the rest of my chocolate bar for dessert.

IMG_2812

So, there you go! Two days of eats.

I have to go to class in four minutes, so I’ll talk more about how I feel and some of your questions in my next post.

Until then, I love you all and wish we could hug!

And a question for ya’ll! Are you a dark or milk chocolate person?

Hi pie! Thanks for sharing your raw diet :) I like dark chocolate more than milk now, but used to be the other way around. I still love me some melty rich milk chocolate every once in awhile, though. It’s so cool that you’re eating avocado and dark chocolate recently with your delve into raw eating!! I can’t believe I now eat mushrooms, beans, and cauliflower.

Love your before and after watermelon pics :) Nom nom! Burping lemon rind sounds kinda fun–like you said, lemony fresh breath!

  10. I love love LOVE seeing this new eating approach of yours. I’m so intrigued! Everything looks so incredibly fresh, so incredibly HEALTHY! I want to see more more more.

I used to hate dark chocolate (I feel like it’s only suited to more adult palates? What kid actually loves dark chocolate?) but the more I eat it the more I enjoy it. I still probably eat milk chocolate more often but I hardly eat chocolate as is so that’s not that often in the first place. I’d like to start a daily dark chocolate ritual one of these days though. Gotta load up on them antioxidants!

  25. Dark chocolate for me! :) It tastes like chocolate, where milk tastes like chocolate with something added. Wierd but I’ve always liked it better!

Great eats! I know what you mean about the cabbage leaves ripping!!

  26. I used to be exclusively a milk chocolate girl but now I’m so in love with rich dark chocolate I may never go back!

I have a question… Compared to before how much are you spending on groceries (I mean compared to before I guess)? Your second day’s juice would be about $5-6 based on my store’s regular prices and that’s going with regular produce not natural/organic (which I think is a good idea when juicing).

  34. I used to be a straight up milk kind of girl. My mom would have crazy 80% cocoa stuff lying around the house and I thought she was nuts. But then after I went veg and stopped eating chocolate, dark chocolate tasted amazing. I am also in love with Go Raw’s chocolate truffles. My mom sends me them in care packages and they make my life. They’re just cocoa powder and agave nectar, all raw and organic and DELICIOUS.

HAH! “I took a calming, meditative breath, blotted the shit out of the cubes, and ate them calmly” you are so funny, Erin!! :D + well done on your raw eats, my beau!

As for the milk chockies vs dark chockies debate … it really depends on the situation, sometimes I like dark (up to 80%!!!!!), sometimes I like milk (yea, yea, I know it’s full of crap, so SUE me).

I store things in the fridge unwrapped too, and my friends & partner think I’m a freak. It’s a habit I got from my mum as a kid – she does the same. I had a housemate who refused to eat anything in the fridge until I started wrapping up my tomatoes and cucumbers, because he believed that somehow they were encouraging the growth of bacteria that would transfer to his food… which was ridiculous because the only thing he ever ate was chickpeas straight from the tin, and good prepared by his mum (and thus kept in airtight containers). Very strange boy.

i LOVE the sickeningly sweet white whiiiitttee choccie (like sometimes I fantasize about going to whole foods, buying a big chunk of it, melting it, and eating it with a spoon) – milk chocolate is always good, and dark chocolate i’ve developed a taste for because it is the most satisfying. :P you are doing fabulously on your new food plan… keep it up! :)

  71. Love it! Love it all! I had a long conversation with Miss VeggieWomanGirlChild about this diet. She read a lot of passages from the book to me, and I am so intrigued! Everything you have been eating lately just looks so fresh! And the dark chocolate just makes me happy inside.

I really want to try the jicama rice. Scratch that, I want to try all of this food.

I hope that the reading is going well…fuuunnn!! I <3 you!

  72. Marianne – I’m sorry, I wasn’t very clear was I! :) The hummus has tahini in it, which qualifies as a nut/seed.

Gillian – SUCH a good question. Well, let me preface my answer with this: my digestion prior to this dietary change was HIDEOUS. Don’t get me started. After almost two weeks, I’m feeling MUCH BETTER! WAY LESS BLOATED! Oh my god, it is a dream. And hopefully I’m on the way to daily poos! That’s been a dream of mine for years!

Rebeca – Hmm, I think about $30-$50 more at the moment. But my husband and I eat really different diets and I think that contributes to our high grocery bill.

Emily – Definitely! Probably this wknd so keep an eye out! :)

Lara – IT IS! At least, if you’re at my level of rawness, which is about 80-90%.

Natalie – According to the raw food combining principles, certain foods shouldn’t be combined because they create digestive probs…nuts and starches together fall into that category :)

Lea – THat is whack! ;)

Red Hurr – Thank god it tastes nothing like that, ha! The texture is like a water chesnut and the flavor is mildly sweet. SO GOOD!

Lately my routine has been working though! Have you ever tried Miralax? You can buy it anywhere and it is NOT harsh at all- it just makes your intestines reabsorb more water which in turn makes it easier to go with absolutely no side effects.
