Hi pies! It’s the weekend! Whee!
I’m actually glad spring break is coming to a close. Left to my own devices – without any external structure imposed on me – I sleep constantly. I can easily nap twice a day.
Sitting in my office chair even!
I made creamy pumpkin ‘fu pro powder oats yesterday morning and ate them with a purple spoon
They were so warm and creamy that I got all sleepy and went back to bed until 9:00!
I brought this lunch to work. See how cute that little Flat-Out is, hugging the Gladware? Cuddle. So sweet!
Work was boring, which led to a PM nap in my chair.
I ate a kiwi (no picture) around 4:30 and dragged my lazy butt to the gym for a short workout – I didn’t realize they closed at 6:00.
That’s the problem with a university gym. The hours are subject to crazy!
The other problem: seeing my students there.
Another reason why I (normally) go right when they open.
For cardio, I did the Sarah. I’m not referring to one of her insane runs. I opted for a 20 minute walk at 3.5 speed and 12 incline. IT WAS NOT EASY! I got super sweaty and I loved it!
I did a rapid fire chest workout (incline dumbell presses, pushups, and explosive pushups) and was outta there!
Rob and I made a dinner inspired by Natural Health magazine: tempeh with green tea infused noodles!
Here’s some process pics!
I marinated the tempeh in pineapple juice and – what else? Maybe rice wine vinegar. I have no idea now. I mean, it’s been almost 24 hours, so I obviously don’t remember.
Here’s the rice noodles soaking in green tea.
I ended up combining the noodles with some asparagus (asparagus pee indeed). This is how I store it after I bring it home. Fresh!
I sautéed all that with tamari and some other stuff (where’s my brain ya’ll) and ripped open the tea bag and added that to the goods.
I liked it! See the little black specks? Tea leaves! Cute!
This was Rob’s first tempeh! He’s so sweet to try new things. He thought the texture was weird but he liked it too. I promised to make him an ooey gooey BBQ tempeh sando next week.
I had an apple for dessert.
I was really antsy and bored last night, so I decided to go grocery shopping ahead of schedule. That was WAY fun.
When I got home, I ate this snack and we watched 30 Rock for the first time!
That show is funny as hell! We watched about six episodes and then I started getting all squirmy on the couch, which is a sign I need to go to bed.
Do you watch 30 Rock too? How many seasons are there?
Have a beautiful day honies.

Yeah for tempeh! BBQ is def the way to go in the male species ; )

I think your peeps header rocks ! I used to LOVE them so much! Then for easter one year, Josh’s mom bought me like 20 boxes (no joke) and now I can’t eat them any more. But they’re still super cute and remind me of being a little kiddy!
Glad your man liked the tempeh- I still haven’t tried it! Your nightly desserts always make my tummy growl.
I watch 30 rock every once in a while but I always think its hilarious!
Enjoy your weekend

Your dinner looks so gourmet, Miss Chef!
Posted by Maggie on March 21, 2009 at 1:45 pm
We’ve been meaning to start 30 rock!
That’s v. cool that Rob liked the tempeh – I am not a fan… I bought a bunch thinking I would like it so I’ve been trying to sneak it in when I make fried rice for Bobby but he’s onto me now. No more tempeh!
<3 naps. And I love when I can get access to a treadmill cuz I like walking at super inclines too – it’s an awesome workout and I don’t even have to run!
Happy weekend!

I’m a total napper. I could nap at the drop of a hat, multiple times a day. I need a job that allows me to do that, then I would be a much happier camper.
You dinner looks like so much fun – love that idea of green tea infused noodles (almost wrote needles – wtf).
I actually had a big convo at work about asparagus pee with a couple of coworkers yesterday. How odd.

RE: seeing students at the gym…when I was in undergrad, sometimes I was very lame and would skip out on going out and go to the gym on a Friday or Saturday night, and Friday and Saturday nights the gym was always full of teachers which was weird for my as a student and now I guess them as teachers:)
Posted by Julz on March 21, 2009 at 2:08 pm
I’ve never seen 30 ROCK. But you love it. So I will
Last night, out of the blue, Momma goes, “Erin is SO sweet!” The rest of our convo went like so:
Me: My Erin?
Mom: SO SWEET!!
Me: So sweet, but what made you think of her?
Mom: I love her!
Me: You thought of her just because you love her?
Mom: I was watching you eat dinner, and thought about how much I love you. And I love Erin because she loves you.
(Is that not beyond?)
-PS- Way to leave out how JEAL. you were of my mcnasty mayo taste test. V. SMOOTHE. We both know we’re SERIOUSLY judged for those DELICACIES… But NO shame, cracka, no shame! And don’t worry, I won’t be sending it to you. The PB? THAT’S A WHOLE NOTHA STOH-REE.
Weeee

30 ROCK! Oh my god, I’m sending you an email or facebook or something right now!! You’ll love it!
By the way, I’m jealous of your napping skills – I can’t sleep for shiz

i’ve never watched 30 rock but it seems like everyone like it!

Love 30 Rock! You can watch it on hulu, too! There are 3 seasons total – they’re in the 3rd right now.
I boil my tempeh before I do anything else with it – it kind of helps the texture and makes it more appealing to the carnivores in our lives. Hot tempeh wings (slathered in hot sauce!!!) are pretty much the way to my boyfriend’s heart.
Posted by Pearl on March 21, 2009 at 3:00 pm
How sweet of rob to try tempeh! *sigh*
Posted by Michelle Hisae on March 21, 2009 at 3:06 pm
I just bought my very first package of tempeh.
Can’t wait to try it!
Posted by Meg on March 21, 2009 at 3:32 pm
Asparagus pee! Thank you for acknowledging this gross phenomenon that happens! I thought I was the only one until I was grocery shopping with my ex-boy and we always ate asparagus, like at least 3 times a week. And I asked him if his pee smelled and he was like uh yeah. And I was so relieved. I thought I was a freak!
And now I’m the freak who leaves an aspargus pee msg that’s like a mile long!
Posted by Run Saraaah on March 21, 2009 at 4:04 pm
What a wonderful meal – I have some tempeh in the freezer and rice noodles – I think I’ll have to try the green tea infusion. So yummy, especially with asparagus. I love it so much but Allen doesn’t, so I don’t make it quite as often as I’d like.
Posted by Yasmin on March 21, 2009 at 4:13 pm
Great way to use tempeh, I like that idea. I’ve been experimenting with it too and it’s really grown on me. BBQ sauce is really good with it too.
Posted by marafaye on March 21, 2009 at 4:26 pm
I gotta suck it up and get me some tempeh… i loved it as a little kid and haven’t had it in YEARS.
I have a special pot I inherited from my grandma JUST for cooking asparagus…its the coolest thing ever!
Posted by Stef on March 21, 2009 at 4:43 pm
I LOVE 30 ROCK! Quite possibly my fave show. Confession: I wish I was Liz Lemon. That’s the same trick I use to store my asparagus too, I only learned that method a few weeks ago and it makes such a huge difference.
Posted by hopeinpeanutbutterandoats on March 21, 2009 at 4:55 pm
hmmm centrum silver ill have to give it a go! and i’m nervous to try tempeh but veryyyy curious! does it have a flavor or does it adapt like tofu?
Posted by Sarah M. on March 21, 2009 at 5:04 pm
30 Rock is one of our favorite shows. It may have surpassed The Office. I know, blasphemy!
Way to do the Sarah. Chris did the Sarah too. Did I say that? I like to call it “Ghetto Treadmill.” The workout, not the other thing. Though I guess that’s applicable as well.
I recognize that raisin bag. I hope that when I’m 80, no one calls me raisin bag.
Posted by Erin on March 21, 2009 at 5:24 pm
I could also take a million naps a day but am sad to be over spring break!
your dinner looks amazing. What a cool idea!
Posted by coco on March 21, 2009 at 5:54 pm
sleepy is a symptom of relaxation! glad that you’re having double naps during the spring break!
your dinner looks great! I’ll try out some rice noodle when I go back and tempeh too!
groceries is the perfect thing to do when we get bored!

Posted by Hallie on March 21, 2009 at 7:29 pm
LOVE 30 Rock. The boy got me into it.
I should have you make me tempeh
I’m scared to try it. Although I was scared to eat tofu until like two weeks ago and now I’m like, “when can I make more tofu!”
Posted by jesslikesithot on March 21, 2009 at 8:21 pm
ughhh I LOVE tempeh, every time I eat at some vegetarian-friendly place and they have it I HAVE to order it, it’s my faveeeee!!
Posted by Hangry Pants on March 22, 2009 at 4:47 am
I love 30 Rock. I think it’s been on for two years, but I am not positive. I started watching it last year.
Erin, did you eat non-shirataki poo poo noodles? I am so proud. It looks delicious and I want to come over and eat it.
Posted by Aimee on March 22, 2009 at 6:44 am
I got season 1 at Christmas, but haven’t watch it yet. I could use some laughs, so maybe I’ll watch it sooner rather than later!
Posted by Tina on March 22, 2009 at 8:30 am
When I was living with two roomates one of my roomates and I bought plastic utensils for kids at IKEA to eat our breakfast with. I miss those plastic spoons, they were really cute! We bought a bag that had pink, yellow, green and blue spoons, forks and knives. It was her idea to buy them because she said she loves eating yoghurt with plastic spoons because it tastes better. Haha! And now I’m slightly addicted too.

Green tea! I LOVE anything green tea, so that green-tea infused noodles just made my eyes pop! where did you get the idea, and could you actually taste the tea?
oh, and I’ve only tried tempeh once in this Indonesian salad with peanut dressing.
Posted by Kate on March 22, 2009 at 9:38 am
MAN you just made me realize how long it’s been since I’ve had my pumpkin oats! I’m such a weirdo w/ pumpkin out of the fall season–why!?
OMG-You must know, I am like big time major 30 rock fan. I’ve watched it since the beginning! By far the best show out there-I am seriously so happy you liked it! Did you see this week’s episode? It was new and again, hilarious!

Hi Erin!
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog. I have seen your comments all over the place too and I don’t know how we have missed each other! I was happy to see your comment
I have never tried tempeh but I really want to. I don’t know what I’m afraid of…does it taste like tofu at all? It looks great in your photos so it can’t be that bad.
Love 30 Rock. My husband has a huge crush on Tina Fey!
Posted by eatingbirdfood on March 22, 2009 at 12:24 pm
I’m glad Rob liked your tempeh creation. It looks bomb diggity.
Great way to store asparagus. I didn’t know that trick and I’ve had a bunch of asparagus sitting in the fridge for the past 3 days with no h20. dang it.
I’ve never seen 30 rock but heard it’s pretty funny.. enjoy!

Green tea infused noodles sound amazing! Your hubby is awesome for trying new things, I know mine wouldn’t touch that with a 10 foot pole!
Posted by ttfn300 on March 22, 2009 at 4:45 pm
GREAT idea with the asparagus! i usually wet a paper towel and put it on the ends, but that is way better
your hubby sure is adventurous! i recently started watching 30 rock too! hope you guys had a great weekend!

I’ve always heard really good things about 30 Rock, but never watched it. I do love Tina Fey.
Chris will not eat tempeh. It’s so good and one of the few soy products that does not bother me. I’ll keep working on him.
Green tea noodles – interesting. Asparagus pee – I hear this doesn’t happen to everyone. Definitely happens to me!
Posted by Allison on March 22, 2009 at 6:43 pm
LOL – I love 30 rock too! The third season is what is currently on Thursday nights (1 and 2 are already out on DVD…and we own both – totally worth it – I HIGHLY recommend!)
